Northwestern's online writing resources

Do you want to:
•    write more efficiently or effectively?
•    learn how to write in a specific discipline?
•    teach others how to write?

NuWrite, an offshoot of Northwestern’s Writing Program, gives you access to a wide range of writing resources and experts. It also offers a way to exchange information with others doing your kind of writing or teaching of writing. This is useful because writing in different disciplines and genres follows different conventions -- and we can all get great ideas from others!

Two ways to use the site:
•    type a word or phrase in the search box (upper right of screen)--e.g. "research proposals," "social science articles"
•    click on one of the writing communities listed in the right-hand column

What is a writing “community”?
NuWrite is organized by and around groups of people with common interests and questions about writing. These "communities" may be courses, programs, disciplines, or interest groups. Each community sets its own goals and manages its own resources. Some are open to all site visitors, while others are for specific groups, such as freshman seminar faculty or history junior proposal writers.  Click on a community to find announcements, resources, and contact information. We hope you'll contribute materials and ideas to NuWrite.   If you would like to start a community, contact Penny Hirsch in the Writing Program.
